How to Remove the Invoice from a Flipkart Label PDF Before Printing

The first time I opened a Flipkart dispatch file with 120 orders in it, the page count said 120 and the paper tray said the same. Each page had a small Ekart label at the top and a tax invoice filling everything under it.

If you want to remove the invoice from a Flipkart label PDF, the good news is that this is one of the easiest wins in the whole dispatch routine. You are not editing anything or retyping data. You are just telling the printer to stop printing the part the courier never reads.

Why the invoice sits on the same page

Flipkart builds the label PDF as one page per shipment. The shipping label block goes on top, and the invoice for that order goes underneath.

It is a sensible default, because both documents relate to the same parcel. It is just wasteful for the person doing the printing, since only the top portion ever goes on the outside of the box.

A standard courier label is 4 x 6 inches (101.6 x 152.4 mm). An A4 sheet is 210 x 297 mm (8.27 x 11.69 in) under ISO 216. So the label uses roughly a quarter of the page you are printing.

How to remove the invoice from a Flipkart label PDF

This part takes about thirty seconds once you have done it once.

Step 1: open the file in the cropper

Load your download into the Flipkart Label Cropper. It reads the text on every page rather than applying one blanket measurement.

Step 2: pick label only

Choose the label-only output. The tool finds the invoice heading on each page and cuts just above it, keeping the full label block including the barcode and the courier routing details.

Step 3: check the first and last page

Scroll to the first page and the last page of the preview. Those two catch almost every problem, because they are usually the shortest and longest orders in the batch.

Why fixed crops go wrong on Flipkart files

This is where it gets interesting, and it explains a frustration a lot of sellers have had with generic PDF tools.

The invoice section is not a fixed height. It grows with the number of line items in the order. A single-item order has a short invoice. A five-item order pushes the invoice much further up the page.

So if you measure a crop on one page and apply that same rectangle to all 120 pages, it will be correct for orders of that size and wrong for every other size. Sometimes it leaves invoice text hanging below your label. Sometimes it slices into the label itself.

Detecting the heading on each page separately is what makes the cut land correctly on all of them. That is the actual difference between a marketplace-aware cropper and a plain rectangle crop.

What to do with the invoice itself

Here is the part I would not skip. Cropping decides what you print on the outside of the parcel. It does not decide your paperwork obligations.

Marketplaces set their own rules about what must travel inside the box, and Indian tax rules have their own requirements for issuing a tax invoice for a supply. Those rules do not change because you cropped a PDF.

So treat this as two separate jobs:

• Outside the parcel: the cropped shipping label, nothing else.
• Inside the parcel or on file: the invoice, handled the way your seller panel currently requires.

A ten second check on every batch

Open the cropped output and look at two pages: the one with the fewest items and the one with the most.

If both show a complete label with no invoice text clinging to the bottom, the whole batch is right. Those two pages sit at the extremes of invoice height, so everything in between is covered by them.

I do this on every batch. It has caught a bad file twice, both times because the download had stopped part way and half the pages were a different format.

What this actually saves

Run the numbers with your own volume rather than mine.

At 100 orders a day, printing full pages means 100 sheets. Cropping to label-only and placing four per sheet brings that to 25. Over a 26 day month that is roughly 2,600 sheets against 650.

A 500 sheet ream runs somewhere around Rs. 250 (about $3), so you are looking at close to four reams a month, plus the toner spent printing invoices nobody reads on the doorstep.

My honest take

Crop first, always, then decide about the invoice as a separate question.

I have seen sellers avoid cropping because they were not sure whether they were allowed to drop the invoice. That is a fair worry, and the answer is that the two things are not connected. You can remove the invoice from a Flipkart label PDF for printing purposes and still issue and include invoices exactly as required.

Do it once on tomorrow's batch. The setup is a few clicks, and the paper saving shows up the same day.
